1- Black Beauty

Black Beauty is a 2020 adventure, drama, and family movie that is based on the 1877 novel, of the same name, by Anna Sewell.

The movie is narrated by Black Beauty (voiced by Kate Winslet), a wild Mustang horse, starting with her birth in the Onaqui Mountains in southeastern Tooele County, Utah.

When Black Beauty is rounded up and taken to Birtwick Stables in Santa Clara, California, she meets Jo Green (played by Mackenzie Foy), a spirited teenage girl.

The two form an unbreakable bond that carries them through various adventures and challenges.

2- Flicka

Flicka is a 2006 adventure, drama, and family movie loosely based on the 1941 children’s novel “My Friend Flicka” by Mary O’Hara.

The movie tells the story of Katy McLaughlin (played by Alison Lohman), a 14-year-old girl who adopts, befriends, and tries to tame Flicka, a wild filly horse.

Katy’s goal is to prove to her dad, Rob McLaughlin (played by Tim McGraw), that she is capable and responsible enough to take over the Wyoming family horse ranch eventually.

3- Home on the Range

Home on the Range is a 2004 animated, Western, musical, comedy movie named after the popular classic country song of the same name.

The movie is about a group of animals, including Buck (voiced by Cuba Gooding Jr.), a karate-kicking, adventure-seeking stallion, Lucky Jack (voiced by Charles Haid), a feisty, ped-legged rabbit, and three cows- Grace (voiced by Jennifer Tilly), who is a ditzy and happy-go-lucky, Maggie (voiced by Roseanne Barr), who is adventurous and brash and Mrs. Calloway (voiced by Judi Dench), who is prim and proper.

When an infamous cattle rustler, Alameda Slim (voiced by Randy Quaid), threatens to take possession of the local dairy farm that the animals call home, they set out to capture the greedy outlaw and save their home.

4- Horse Sense

Horse Sense is a 1999 family drama Disney Channel Original Movie.

Michael Woods (played by Joey Lawrence), a 20-year-old arrogant, lazy, spoiled rich kid from Beverly Hills, California, is sent to live with his 11-year-old cousin, Tommy Biggs (played by Andrew Lawrence), at his Montana ranch for the summer.

When the ranch becomes under the threat of foreclosure, the two cousins must put aside their difference and team up together to help try and save the family ranch.

5- Justin Morgan Had a Horse

Justin Morgan Had a Horse is a 1972 Western family drama movie based on the 1945 children’s historical novel, of the same name, by Marguerite Henry.

The movie is about Justin Morgan (played by Don Murray), a schoolteacher who acquires a bay colt named Figure to pay an old debt.

Figure becomes the foundation sire of the Morgan horse breed, one of America’s first breeds of horses.

6- Ready to Run

Ready to Run is a 2000 sport, family, Disney Channel Original Movie.

Corrie Ortiz (played by Krissy Perez) is an energetic 14-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a horse jockey even though her horse jockey father died in a horse racing-related accident.

Corrie discovers she has the gift of being able to communicate with her horse Thunder Jam (voiced by Paul Rodriguez), TJ for short.

TJ fears the starting gates at the horse tracks, so Corrie decides to help him overcome his fears by placing headphones and playing soft rock music over his ears to relax him.

With Corrie’s assistance, attention, and love, TJ overcomes his fears and transforms into a winning racehorse.

7- Tangled

Tangled is a 2010 3D computer-animated, musical, adventure, comedy movie loosely based on the 1812 German fairy tale, “Rapunzel,” from the “Grimms’ Fairy Tales” by the Brothers Grimm.

The movie focuses on Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore), a teenage princess with 70 feet of magical golden hair.

Rapunzel longs to escape from the tower where she has been held by Mother Gothel (voiced by Donna Murphy), an evil old hag since she was a baby.

When Flynn Rider (voiced by Zachary Levi), a handsome runaway thief, takes refuge in the tower, Rapunzel asks him to help her escape.

Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, and Rapunzel’s horse, Maximus, a palace horse for the Royal Guard, set off on a journey to see the world.

8- The Young Black Stallion

The Young Black Stallion is a 2003 family adventure drama movie based on the 1989 novel, of the same name, by Walter Farley. It is the prequel to the 1979 movie “The Black Stallion.”

Due to a band of robbers, a young girl named Neera (played by Bianca Tamimi) is separated from her father in the desert. Neera soon befriends a young, wild Arabian colt that she names Shetan.

With Shetan’s help, Neera returns to her grandfather’s farm, Ben Ishak (played by Richard Romanus), and quickly learns that he can no longer afford to keep any of his horses [1].

To help her grandfather, Neera and Shetan enter a grueling cross-country horse race against Arabia’s finest horses.
