8 Best Horse Riding Helmet Visors (Reviews)
Equestrian helmet visors provide riders protection from the sun. Wide brims give shade to your face and some help block out UV rays. If you spend a lot of time riding in the sun, they are a must have piece of equipment.
#1 Intrepid International Equivisor Helmet Visor
The Intrepid Equivisor has to be my favorite helmet visor for horse riding. It is one of the options available that is specifically designed for an equestrian riding hat.
The brim not only helps keep the sun out of your eyes it extends along the side protecting your ears and the side of your face. It is secured with velcro closure. The closure has a good amount of adjustability, so it will fit a wide range of riding hat sizes.
If you want your horse helmet visor to blend in with your hat, you will like that this product comes in black. However, if you want a little variety it also comes in denim, jute, and brown.
One feature I really like is that in addition to the velcro closure, it also has internal grips on the straps to help keep it in place when you are riding at speed.
I tried one of these that my friend owns and found it did a great job and it was really easy to take on and off my helmet.

What to Look for When Buying Horse Riding Helmet Visors?
When buying a horse riding helmet visor there are a few things to consider to ensure you get the right one.
Type of Attachment
Look at the type of attachment the helmet visor has. Is it a permanent or temporary attachment? If it’s permanent it is more likely to stay in place, however, you won’t be able to take it off if you don’t want to use it.
Also, when you do take it off, you will no longer be able to use it and it could damage the surface of your helmet.
Riding Environment
What type of conditions do you usually ride in? Are you purely a trail rider? Or do you spend most of your time riding in the arena? If you ride at speed, you will want a visor that attaches more securely so it doesn’t fly off.
Some models have the option to add extra parts that help secure the visor. If you’re going to spend a lot of time riding in the wind or cantering, then you’ll want a visor with this capability.

FAQs
Here I’ve answered some of the questions I often hear from riders looking for a visor for their riding helmets. Let’s take a look.
Is a helmet visor is necessary for horse riding?
No, a helmet visor is not necessary for horse riding. Many people find that the peak of the helmet does enough to keep the sun out of their eyes.
However, if you spend a lot of time riding in very hot and sunny areas, then you will really appreciate putting a visor on your helmet.
Can you show with a riding helmet brimmer?
Whether you can show with a riding helmet brimmer will depend on your association’s rules. Cowboy hat brimmers are usually allowed when competing.
However, a cowboy brimmer would never be accepted at an English horse show.
What is the difference between a helmet visor and a helmet brimmer?
The difference between a helmet visor and a helmet brimmer is that a visor is similar to the hat’s peak but it is wider and provides more coverage, while a brimmer is in the shape of a cowboy hat.
